Propane Leak Detector and Gas Detection
One of the most dangerous thing when it comes to propane, is having a leak. This could either be serious by causing some type of combustion under the right circumstances, or simply cause you to lose propane over a period of time without knowing unless you have a Propane leak detector or some other gas detection device to pick up on a leak.

The Pro Series propane detector is calibrated to detect less than 25% of even the lower explosive limit of propane and methane. This is good because it ensures that a leak could never get to a harmful level that could hurt you or your family.
Another option you might consider along with this detector is the PROPANE LEAK-SEEK SOLUTION which is a specialized liquid formula for finding gas leaks, propane leaks, and natural gas leaks. You simply spray on the liquid or brush it on, and the area will bubble when their are leaks.
This is simply the best way to ensure that you as well as your family stay safe from harmful gases that could be damaging to a Motorhome RV or a fifth wheel if left unfixed. These are simply the best and most cost effective ways to check for propane and gas leaks on an RV. If you are willing to spend hundreds of dollars on other RV parts, why not spend around 10-20 bucks to stay safe from propane leaks.
Dometic Air Conditioner Parts
Dometic parts can be very expensive if you are repairing an air conditioner, or a refrigerator for that matter. While the most expensive part is the motor in most cases, things that can go wrong are things like a defective or burned up heat pump. This is precisely what went out on our dometic duo therm air conditioner. We not only replaced the heat pump, but also the shroud and gaskets within the AC.
Most models however are quite reliable, and may need minor maintenance on occasion. If you notice major changes with the temperature fluctuating, this is a good sign you will need to replace some parts. Don’t panic, just call a local RV air conditioner repairman and have them come out to access what you will need replaced. We have seen many duotherm brisk air conditioner units have parts replaced this past summer even though they are good units. This is usually due to a lack of care. Getting an owners manual can save you a lot of headaches. If all else fails and you do not want to spend the possible hundreds of dollars to repair a unit that may be valued at a few hundred dollars, then the next and obvious choice is to just buy a new unit.
If you do go with a new Motorhome or travel trailer air conditioner, you should consider the Duotherm Penguin which has a height of only 9-1/2 inches above the roofline. This is considered to be a low profile RV air conditioner unit, and does have a sleeker look. You will end up spending more money on these AC’s, but the ease of use and sleekness may be well worth it to those not wanting something so bulky.
