Purchasing the right RV landing gear is important, and if you want to get quality equipment for your RV or trailer, then you will certainly want to know about all the different kinds there are and how much they will cost you on average. When it comes to buying lander gear for your RV, you can expect to pay anywhere from $200-$400 on average. You will want to make sure to get landing gear that will be able to handle the full weight of your RV, because otherwise you could have to deal with an accident or damage that will cost you a considerable amount of money.

The Atwood Landing Gear for example, will provide you with up to 36 inches in adjustment as well as the inner drop tube, which adjusts 16” additional space, bringing the total amount to 36”. This particular landing gear will support up to 600 pounds and has a “quick to ground” feature that is great for setting down your RV fast. For one of these you can expect to pay out around $300. Although some of the prices for these landing gears may be steep, you are ultimately paying for quality. The last thing you want is RV landing gear that will break down on you shortly after you get it.

You can also get electric RV landing gear, which gives you an easy and efficient way to get your RV on the ground and completely stabilized. On the Ultra-Fab electric landing gear, you can expect to get two powerful and hard-working motors running on 12 volts each. This completely erases the need for inefficient and outdated crank technology that you might have used in the past. With electric landing gear, you will be able to simply press a button and begin the landing process with your RV.

One great thing about electric landing gear for RV’s is the slip clutch which protects against any damage that you may incur as a result of over-extension. It is important to consider all the necessary safety features with the landing gear you get, because you will want to protect your RV and keep it safe from any unnecessary damages. When purchasing RV landing gear, you will want to check out the warranty that comes along with it. If it doesn’t give you at least 3 years, then you might want to consider getting another one.

Adjustable extensions on your landing gear is yet another issue that you will want to look into, because it is a nice feature to have. You should also make sure that the landing gear that you buy can handle all the uneven or unstable surfaces you might encounter when you traveling with your RV. Often times when you are traveling, you may encounter rocky or even spots in the ground where it really helps to have landing gear that can support your entire RV and keep it safe from damages. Make sure that you do not pay more than you have to for the landing gear you get. It is important to look around and make sure the deal you are getting for yours is the best.

Dutchmen has been providing quality affordable towing travel trailers for just over twenty years now, founded in 1988. During that time they have been a best selling brand, especially among families. They are definitely the top company to look into the next time you’re in the market for a recreational vehicle.

The Dutchmen Lite line of trailers range in size from 18’ to 31’. They are a very affordable choice for aerodynamic and lightweight travel trailers. Many of the company’s competitor’s only offer a very small and stripped down lite trailer. They save money by taking out most of the features that make a trailer comfortable in the first place. Dutchmen find other places to keep the cost down and their Lite trailers feature all the equipment and extras that are in the rest of the product lines. There are also a variety of floor plans in all sizes to accommodate you and your family’s needs and preferences.

When you are looking for something a bit bigger you might want to consider the DSL Bunk Houses, Rear Lounges or Couples Coaches. These are large slide Dutchmen travel trailers that range in size from 26’ to 38’ feet. All the models will feature large, even floored slide rooms, with the widest variety of features and luxury on the market. Just a short list of the features available to you are solid wood drawers and cabinets, ducted air conditioning, a kitchen sky light, and expansive storage throughout the unit. Please note most of these features are optional on all models.

If a more economically priced trailer is in your price range, then Dutchmen travel trailers have an answer for you, the Sport product line. They offer only the best selling floor plans but at a price to fit any budget. The features list may be a bit more basic but of course all the deluxe accommodations are still available as an option.

While most customers state that they have absolutely no problems with any Dutchmen trailers and are very pleased, the company is so confident in their craftsmanship that they offer a warranty for one year. This includes any material, part, or workmanship that may be defective. However, do keep in mind that there are limits to this warranty as with any other. It only covers Dutchman components, so if you refurbish the trailer the warranty may not cover any repairs. It is also non transferable, nor are they applicable to any privately sold vehicles. However most first customers report that the warranty was never needed and their Dutchmen travel trailers have been nothing but a pleasure. RoTi RV Review summed it up best; “Dutchmen products offer more value for your dollar than any other recreational vehicle.”

When you are settled into a nice spot with your RV, somewhere that only the birds can bother you, the last thing you want to do is move your RV just because the waste tanks are full. The good news is that you don’t have to, you just need an RV portable waste holding tank. The bad news is that there are a lot of choices and it can be difficult to determine which brand is right for you and which model is the best.

Probably the most important option is size. You can find a multiple of sizes but the most common are in the range of 22 and 35 gallons. Really the size you choose should be dependent on a few things, length of your trips and available space. If you have a particularly cramped RV, then perhaps you might want to forgo the 35-gallon tank and opt for something that won’t take up so much room. The same applies with how long you usually park someplace that the opportunity to empty the waste tanks isn’t readily available. If you like to stay put for a long period of time then a larger portable tank will work much better for your situation.

One of the more popular makers of an RV portable waste holding tank is Tote-N-Stor. They offer a variety of sizes and colors. They have tanks in gray, blue, white and black. As with most other makers and models your RV portable waste holding tank will come with all the fittings and parts necessary to connect and drain your waste tanks. Tote-N-Stor models also have the convenience of having a storage compartment for all the parts and fittings, eliminating a lot of the possibility of losing them. This company’s tanks are very compact and will be very easily stored in even the smallest RV. They are among the most affordable and are available anywhere you can get other RV supplies.

SmartTote is probably the most popular maker of portable waste tanks. They are among the more expensive but also are made of a heavier material that makes them sturdier. Most vendors will only carry tanks in black and they are not quite as compact as the Tote-N-Stor’s are. The are a bit bulkier but also have a self-storing hose that prevents it from being damaged or lost. Also a nice feature with these models are the outboard wheels so that you can simply roll it along the ground instead of risking dropping it and damaging it.

If you check out the RV supply store you will undoubtedly run across many other makes and models of portable waste tanks, but most of the options will remain the same. Check the durability and convenience to find the one that’s right for your situation and your RV.

As with anything that runs off some kind of electricity, there are different batteries for different purposes. Usually an RV will have a chassis battery and a coach battery. The chassis battery is used for starting the engine and running all of the RV’s automotive systems. The coach battery is primarily responsible for powering the electrical devices in the coach, like the lights or the furnace. But this begs the question, what does an RV battery isolator do?

In the most basic definition an RV battery isolator is a device that allows the batteries to be charged while the vehicle is running, by the vehicle alternator. Then when you turn off the engine, the RV battery isolator disconnects the chassis battery and the coach battery. This is most effective when “dry camping”, or parking the RV in places where a battery charger is not readily available. Another device used for the same purpose is a relay. Using an isolator means that you can drain the coach battery without worrying about whether the main starting battery will be dead in the morning when you decide to drive away.

One of the main kinds of isolator is the Delcotron CS Series. These are high performance isolators and for use on any GM alternators from 1985 to the present. They are available in 90, 140, and 200 amp models. All the mounting hardware and instructions are included with purchases.

The Noco Company makes battery isolators for virtually any make and model of RV that’s available. They are available in 90, 140, 200, and 270 amp models. They can be used with wet cell or gel cell battery systems. Though you should not mix them or the batteries can be damaged. As with Delctron’s CS series, all the wiring, hardware and instructions you need are included.

SurePower offers some battery isolators in different amp models; like a 70, 95, 120, and 160. They boast an easier installation than other brands as well as no maintenance. Be sure that you know which package you are buying, there are several. Some of the packages offer just the isolator with no other hardware and are usually more affordable, as are the lower amp isolators. But they also have packages that include all the wiring needed for installation. Also they seem to be the main company that provides a three terminal battery isolator. Though the most popular kind is two terminal, there is three terminal available if it’s needed. With SurePower you also need to be careful with which models and makes they are compatible with. Most of their models are compatible with all vehicles, but several are only compatible with GM or Chevy models.

As winter approaches upon us again, an RV furnace or heater is what is going to keep you warm during those long cold nights. If you have been wondering about which LP gas furnaces or RV propane furnaces are the best setup for your RV or fifth wheel, we have a few selections which we will be covering. Since their many brands to choose from, we will be focusing on the most well-known brands which have proven to the front runners in the RV parts industry.

Beginning with the Atwood RV Furnace Hydro Flame Excalibur Series Furnace by Atwood, we have a base for discussion. With several new models known as Excalibur 8500 IV and 8900 III series furnaces, noise that you may have once heard on your old RV furnace will now be minimized to a great degree. This is because the blower housing turbulence has been decreased quite a bit from previous models. Some of the features of the Excalibur 8500 IV includes 13 different duct outlets which provide great flexibility for installation. The design of this new RV furnace/heater allows for easy installation from the exterior of the RV. This means that there is no difficult RV furnace removal to be done, which also prevents any interior damage from trying to service your motorhome. So if you’re in the market for purchasing a new RV heater for this winter you’ll be happy to know that the redesign of the new Excalibur 8500 has made it compact in size, light weight, low profile and quite simply easy on the utilization of space.

He may want to find a more inexpensive solution to eating your RV this winter. One of those options is the HeatMate portable alcohol heater. This unit not only provides a free source of heat but also doubles into a stove as well. It’s simple to transport and even has a carrying strap. If you are nervous about safety issues with the Heatmate, you will be happy to know that it comes with a Safe-Flame non pressurized canister system, which for you means no hoses, pumping, or pre-heating at all. You’ll also be happy to know that using this unit also is better for the environment since it uses a grain-based alcohol. The fuel canister holds about 1.2 L of alcohol which in turn provides 5200 BTUs of heat and can boil 1 quart of water in approximately 9 minutes. Th this RV portable heater and stove consists mainly of well constructed aluminum. An added feature is the fact that even if you knock it over, this RV heater unit will not spell out fuel. This RV portable heater and stove is perfect buy for anyone on a budget or wanting to add additional heat to their RV.

If you want to go with a heavy-duty ducted RV furnace, then you may want to check out the Suburban NT-30SP, NT-34SP and NT-40 which provides serious power to heat up large RVs. How much you may ask, up to 40,000 BTU/h input. The advantage of the newer units is lower demands on your batteries. This is a positive thing when you’re taking long road trip’s and need constant use of not only this unit but other devices within your RV. These units are probably the most powerful RV furnace units in the industry today.

Other units you may want to look into including the 7900 II Furnace by Atwood, Suburban RV Furnace for Smaller RVs by Suburban, Olympian Wave 6 Catalytic Safety Heater, Hydro Flame Excalibur XT Series 2-Stage Furnace by Atwood, and Olympian Wave 3 Catalytic Safety Heater.

If you are using a fifth wheel hitch to tow your trailer that’s just fine, but it can get old quite quickly when you can’t use your truck for anything else. The thing you need is a fifth wheel gooseneck adapter which not only is removable, but is simple to setup, and just as strong as using a regular 5th wheel hitch to tow. one product that has been proven to match up to a fifth wheel and beyond is the RV1, with a 5 inch offset.

The PopUp GN8 self-latching coupler helps to make the towing experience miles better with a durability that will last. Some of the features of the fifth wheel adapter include a 4 inch adjustment with increments of 1 inch. This is great for different heights in trailers and trucks. 24,000 lbs. Gross Trailer Weight. With an easy bolt on installation, the 6,000 lbs. Gross Tongue Weight is nothing to sneeze as for pulling power.

The unit comes fully assembled, and ready to use out of the box so to speak. The powder coating finish gives longer lasting durability against the elements of weather. Total installation time takes about an hour, and difficulty level is easy to medium.

Anything can literally tear a hole in your campers awning. Replacing it however is another story. Matching the right colors, and making sure you get the right size measured properly can be a real headache if you don’t get it right the first time.

Carefree is widely regarded in the RV industry, and is probably the leading provider in RV awning replacement whether you have a camper or a travel trailer, finding out the full list of products from Carefree might be your best option before buying something that you may not like, or an awning fabric that is not as sturdy as what you may be wanting. Color is a huge factor in also determining how the sun is quenched by your awning.

For those wanting to get a product that is a decent price, and looks nice we recommend the Spirit FX Vinyl Patio Awning which will be plenty for those wanting full coverage for their Camper or travel trailer. The price on it is around $900 dollars, and it allows you to not only block rays of sunlight from directly hitting you while out on a summer day, but can also help block direct sunlight from windows which can heat up your RV or camper even more thus causing loss of energy, and a higher bill each month to run your RV air conditioner constantly.

Add-a-room options are also a nice way to be outside and block not only the sun, but bugs also. We will be covering more on this in another articles so stay tuned.

Tired of big bulky water heaters for your RV that take up too much room? The Atwood XT can make a difference. It can provide up to 16 gallons of hot water in a 10 gallon size storage. Or if you want the even smaller size you can store up to 9 gallons in a 6 gallon size system. This is done by heating cold water to a hotter temperature, which results in more hot water for you and your family. Up to 50% more in fact!

Some of the features include a pre-installed winterized bypass kit. The dimensions are as follows. Ten gallon cut-out: 15-1/2″H x 19-3/4″W x 21-3/4″D. Cutout for 6 gallon: 12-1/2″H x16-1/2″ x 19-1/2″D. With your purchase comes durable powder coated access doors for this RV water heater.

Overall the Atwood XT water hater fits most all RV’s as well as Fifth wheels and other motor homes. Discounts can be found by shopping online. Many local RV shops have an online checkout. Ask them for specials on water heaters. You will most likely find a lower price with their online store.

You will also want to have a professional install your water heater to ensure it is properly mounted and secured. Purchasing the heater before installation may save you money on a markup cost from the installer if they purchase it for you.
